I am a costume maker specialising in historical cut for womenswear, staymaking & corsetry
Historical Costume
I specialise in historical cut, and produce detailed, accurate costumes. As well as making costume for theatre, I can create garments requiring further historically authentic detail. My historical work is fuelled by an enthusiasm for historical practices and is informed by extensive research.
Corsetry
I have a keen interest in the specialist practices of staymaking and corsetry; structured undergarments spanning the 16th through to the late 19th century. In my passion for corsetry, I use both traditional processes, and continue my research for the best methods of cut, construction and materials, so that I am able to produce corsets of a high and evolving standard.
I studied for my Bachelor's degree in Costume for Theatre, Film and Television at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. My favourtite period of dress is the 1880s & 1890s. I also have a keen interest in domestic and social history, as well as vintage fashion; particularly the mid-late 1960s.
